It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field (village rank).

The arms are Vert two olive branches Argent fruited Sable and stems crossed per saltire, in chief a horseshoe Argent nailed Sable, base barry wavy of four Argent and Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VALE DE SALGUEIRO". (This is how it is blazoned in the image the horseshoe is the main element, though, within the olive branches.)

Vale de Salgueiro Commune is one of the 30 communes of Mirandela Municipality; it had 424 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 15.2 km².
