Coat of arms

Shield Argent, issuant from base a mountain Sable charged with 15 bezants ordered triangular 1:2:3:4:5, issuant from mountain a vine plant Vert fruited Purpure having two branches. In central chief a chalice Purpure garnished Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "BAGUIM DO MONTE".
Meaning:
The black mountain is alluding to the location of Baguim on the slopes of the local moutains . It is furthermore canting due to the suffix "do Monte" (of the mountain). The black colour is symbolizing the soil's fertility, also endurance and adversity in battle. The vine plant is reminding on viticulture, which had been practised here since times immemorial. The chalice is representing a silver exemplar, which had been mentioned in a document about the donation of the lands of Baguim to a local ruler. The 15 bezants are referring to 15 Soldos (old Portuguese coins), which had been also mentioned in that very document, probably being the purchasing price of the lands. The colours golden and silver are symbolizing the fealty of the local people.
