Overview

The Provincial municipality of Huancabamba (124,298 inhabitants; 42,541 ha) is part of the Piura Region, northern Peru - on the border with Ecuador. Huancabamba is the main center of traditional medicine in Peru, thanks to the icy, healing waters of the Huaringas lagunas, located 3,950 m asl.

The Flag

This flag presents a very interesting design, even if with poorly chosen colors, showing an arrangement of polygons made from vertical, horizontal and half-quadrant diagonal (45°) lines, all set in a 3:5 rectangle; trivial specs are apparently (1+2):(1+3+1): An ascending diagonal line cuts the flag in two chiral trapezoids, the bottom fly one in lighter, whitish shades; the underlying design is a brown over yellow over green descending diagonal design, with the yellow area extending to a 1×1 square at top hoist and bottom fly. Very nice! (The ascending diagonal thing may be an attempt to give a much less original design a 3D fluttering look. But I hope not!)
