Located in Aomori City Aomori Prefecture and established in 1993.
The university flag has white background with a green logo mark in the center.
With the change of "Aomori public college" to "Aomori public university" in April 2013, the university has officially defined a logo mark to represent Aomori Public University to the wider public.
The four vertical lines in the center of the logo mark represent "education," the basic axis of the university, and the three vertical lines represent "research," the university's mission along with education. The three horizontal lines that cross over the education and research represent the important role of a public university: "contribution to the community". The Latin "V?rit?s v?s lìber?bit" is a famous passage from the Bible, popularly translated into Japanese as "The truth shall make you free. (Scholarly matters studied in books and derived by reason and logic set people free from superstition and prejudice.)
