Fiat S.p.A. (Fiat Società per Azioni) (English: Fiat Joint Stock Company)
(not to be confused with the earlier company called FIAT, nor its latter parent
company Gruppo Fiat, to which is related) was an Italian holding company whose
original and core activities were in the automotive industry, and that was
succeeded by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA). On
August 1, 2014, Fiat S.p.A. received necessary shareholder approval to proceed
with the merger (which followed board approval). The merger became effective 12
October 2014.

Fiat Industrial S.p.A. (Società per Azioni) was an Italian company into which Fiat S.p.A. (parent company of Fiat Group) demerged most of its activities not directly related to automobiles, decided on April 21, 2010 during a General Assembly, to be enacted on July 2010 and starting activities on January 1, 2011 in which one existing share of Fiat S.p.A. was converted into one Fiat share and one Fiat Industrial share. It ceased operations on September 29, 2013. Fiat Industrial served as a holding company for the activities of truck manufacturer Iveco; an 89.3% stake in the agricultural and construction equipment producer CNH (Case IH New Holland) Global N.V. and FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies) Industrial, which consists of the industrial and marine activities formerly part of Fiat Powertrain Technologies.
