Description of the flag

"Jahad-e Daneshgahi" = "Academic Center for Education, Culture & Research" (here "jahad-e" = "struggle" or "education", Arabic = "jihad")
William Garrison, 18 September 2019

The Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR) (Persian: جهاد دانشگاهی) is an Iranian public and non-governmental higher education institution established on August 16, 1980 (although other sources cite as August 7, 1980) (Persian calendar 16/5/1359) which engages in research and development projects in different fields of science and technology and real-world applications. Its activities can be broadly divided into the areas of: culture and arts, education, entrepreneurship and job creation and research and technology.

This institution may also be referred to as (English: "Jihad University") for its emblem.

The flag is a white horizontal background with the logo in the middle.

The logo is a semicircular cogwheel on the lower part ending with two spikes on each side, with several arches between the cogwheel and the spikes. Below it, it features the year of establishment in Persian calendar "۱۳۵۹" (1980). On top it features the Shahada, in the middle it reads "جهاد" (English: Jihad, or holy war) and below it reads "دانشگاهی" (University).
