The flag was adopted in 2023 after the adoption of the current logo. It is white with the logo diagonally placed to appear upright.

The central circle is outlined in blue and white. Its outer ring is in four colors: red at the top reading the name in Arabic; cuneiform symbols over yellow (left) and green (right) are seen; and IRAQI MINISTRY OF PLANNING is read at the bottom over blue. This outer ring is bordered in white with an incomplete blue border ending at its top. The central circle depicts an overlapping sun with a cuneiform in its center; the cuneiform most likely emphasizes its roots in history.

The previous logo depicted, in circular format, the Iraqi National Flag as an outer ring opening up to read the ministry name in Arabic. The center depicts the red Ministry of Planning headquarters building.
