The municipality of Fužine (2,000 inhabitants in 1991) is located some 10 km inland from Kraljevica, on the railway line Budapest-Zagreb-Rijeka and on a road leading to Krk.
Željko Heimer, 9 July 2003
The symbols of Fužine are prescribed by Decision Odluka o izmjeni o grbu i zastavi Općine Fužine, adopted on 30 September 1996 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 11 October 1996 in the County official gazette Službene novine Županije primorsko-goranske, No. 23.
The Decision changed the upper field of the former coat of arms from green to red.
The Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Fužine, adopted on 8 October 2001 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 15 November 2001 in Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 28, describe the symbols. The description is repeated the Statutes Statut Općine Fužine, adopted on 20 December 2005 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 23 December 2005 in Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 37, and in the current Statutes Statut Općine Fužine, adopted on 1 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published the same day in Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 23.
The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, dark green with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms (image), ceremonial coat of arms) is "Gules a bar argent in chief a railway bridge on three masoned pillars and in base an anvil all argent."
The red field symbolizes the heat of the iron furnaces, the base of the prosperity of the place; the white beam stands for water power; the bridge symbolizes unity of the citizens while the anvil again refers to iron industry.

The symbols shown by the designer (Heraldic Art), in Monumenta heraldica, izbor iz heraldicke baštine primorsko-goranske županije [osg02], and in the 1st European Conference on Heraldry and Vexillology (Cieszyn, Poland, 2012) feature a coat of arms slightly different from the one in actual use: the columns supporting the bridge are made of six rows of bricks instead of five, and there are blacklining within the anvil instead of none.

The symbols of Fužine were first prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Fužine, adopted on 29 April 1996 by the Town Assembly and published on 10 May 1996 in Službene novine Županije primorsko-goranske, No. 12.
The Municipality soon slightly changed them, probably after a suggestion of the Ministry of Administration.
