The municipality's flag is a square cloth divided vertically by a line resembling the cut of a conifer branch. The hoist side is yellow, and the fly side is green. The size of the ceremonial flag is 105 x 105 cm. The flag design reflects the abundance of forests and the hunting sector characteristic of Laekvere Municipality, and also alludes to the well-known Laekvere Pine.

This partition line is called "fir-twigged" in the UK, "sapinagé" in Canada (both English and French), "havukoro" in Finland (where it was invented) and "okaspuutaimelõige" in Estonia.
