Gladsaxe is located in the northwest of Greater Copenhagen (Storkøbenhavn) some 10km away from the centre. Its northern border is the Bagsværd Lake. To the municipality belong the settlement cores of Gladsaxe proper, Buddinge, Bagsværd, Mørkhøj and Søborg.

Flag

The flag is celestial blue with a white barn swallow slightly shifted to the fly, taken from the coat of arms and superimposing a multi coloured annulet. Alongside the hoist is a white inscription "GLADSAXE" and in canton is a white logo version of the coat of arms.

Coat of Arms

Shield Or a barn swallow volant Sable with breast Argent, chief Azure four trefoils Or in fess.
Meaning:
The swallow (Latin: (Hirundo rustica)) is symbolising the rapid growth of Gladsaxe, which finally (no year mentioned) gained the status of a city. The four trefoils are representing the four former villages of Buddinge, Bagsværd, Mørkhøj and Søborg.
