Description of flag:
The flags ratio is 3:5. It is a yellow flag divided per pale by a blue wavy line. The line is superimposed by a red chevron, which comes from the bottom edge. Upon the top edge is a Markian chequered bar consisting of 2 x 9 squares in red or white.
Meaning:
Flag and banner are modified images of the cities coat of arms, which has however a Markian chequered bar with 2 x 7 squares. Ennepetal was established in 1949 by connecting the municipalities of Voerde, Altenvoerde and Milspe. The bar and the golden colour are symbolizing the former rule of the counts of Mark. The wavy line is symbolizing the river Ennepe. The chevron is an image for the connection of the former municipalities.
Authorized: 13 May 1957 by minister of interior Northrhine-Westphalia
