Shield Argent a bordure of torteaux, on base Vert charged with a bar wavy Argent a sinister facing bear rampant Sable tongued Gules at dexter and a fir Vert trunked Sable at sinister.
Meaning:
On 23 August 2012 a treaty was signed between Bernsbach Municipality and Lauter City. On 1 January 2013 both entities merged. Lauter was first mentioned in 1460. Forestry, rafting, and later also mining of copper, iron and tin had been the main business lines. Uranium mining since 1946 caused an economic boost. In 1962 Lauter gained city rights. The arms of Lauter displayed on a silver shield a green fir, its roots overgrown by creepers. The pattern already appeared on a local seal from the 17th century. The seal was an oval and the tree was surrounded by a bordure of balls, the predecessor of the torteaux, i.e. red discs. The fir is representing Lauter. The canting bear and bar wavy, symbolising a creek, are representing Bernsbach, which means "creek of the bear".
