Description of current flag:
The flag's ratio is 2:3. The flags and coat of arms of Emstek, in Kreis Cloppenburg, Land Niedersachsen, are from the Emstek municipal website. The flag has three horizontal stripes of blue and yellow. The yellow stripe is 1/2 flag height. In the centre thereof is the municipal coat of arms. The flag can also be used as a banner. The colours are derived from the city arms: blue for the blue coned roof of the castle, and yellow for the ornamented capsule ("Desum-Knop").

Meaning:
The arms remind of the "Desum-Gericht", which for hundreds of years was held on the Desum near Emstek. It has the same motive as the legal seal of the "Gogericht" ( a juridical and administrative district in the Middle Ages) on the Desum.
