See also:Aldi is the leading global discount supermarket chain with almost 10,000 stores in 18 countries, and an estimated turnover of more than €50,000,000,000. Based in Germany, the chain was founded by brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht in 1946, when they took over their mother's store in Essen which had been in operation since 23 June 1913; it is one of the world's largest privately owned companies. The brothers built up a chain of stores until, by 1960, they owned 300 shops, and split the operation into two separate groups, that later became Aldi Nord, headquartered in Essen, and Aldi Süd, headquartered in Mülheim upon Ruhr. Both operate independently, each within specific areas. The product lines of both companies are slightly different.

The flags of Aldi Nord are mere logo flags, being nearly squares. On a white rectangle is an initial "A" formed by nine partially embowed stripes alternating of dark and light blue, beneath is a dark blue rectangle with white inscription "ALDI", the whole is cotised rd-white. I never spotted any Aldi flag in Germany, source presents flags from Scandinavia.

(1982 - 2006) (see image above). The logo changed in 2006 but remained nearly the same.
Since 2017 (see right image above) the logo changed again, then displaying a half "A", made of six light blue embowed stripes. Beneath remained the inscription but in a font type with softer shape, the whole was cotised red-orange-dark yellow but with rounded corners.

All flags and banners are similar. They all are yellow and have the blue initial "E" in common, sometimes surrounded by a square with blue edges, sometimes with an additional blue inscription "EDEKA" under the initial, sometimes with the additional name of a shop owner or an additonal "CENTER" in blue.
