The Town of Millet, Alberta (population: 2.125) is named after August Millet, who is believed to have been a canoeist and travel companion to Father Lacombe, one of the earliest missionaries in this province.
The location of the Town is between the cities of Edmonton (45 km North) and Wetaskiwin (13 km South) in Central Alberta. Convenient vehicle access from and to these larger communities from the Town of Millet is provided by the presence of Highway 2A. This major traffic corridor is represented on the municipal flag by a paved road surface.
A strong sense of local community is reflected in the Town's motto: "Pride of the County".
The economic importance of agriculture to the Town is represented by
the grain elevator and heads of wheat.
