October 2014The Brazilian gay flag is derived from the national flag of Brazil by
replacing its green field with six rainbow colors, violet at the top. Its photo,
taken in Brasilia on 2013-06-05, can be found at
http://www.trust.org/item/20130605220903-3810e.
As can be seen, the
yellow stripe is in same shade as the lozenge, which effectively conjoins them
into a single charge, although the lozenge is not precisely centered on this
particular flag, probably because it was hand-made and/or in a hurry to finish
before the use time.
A very similar design has appeared at the
GayJourney.COM website
http://gayjourney.com/flags/gay_flags_national.htm and is marked as having
been designed by the site’s author, Greg Gomes. The main difference is the order
of rainbow stripes, red being at the top. Most of colors are also in different
shades there. The use of such flags in real life has not been verified so far.

A similar flag, only with reversed order of rainbow colors and most of the
color shades visibly lighter, was seen in New York City on 2025-06-29, at the
New York City Pride. The photos are available here:

This one is even more
similar to the one which was designed by Greg Gomes of the GayJourney.COM
website, but the color shades still visibly differ from those used there. The
flag was also more oblong than the previously described ones, the ratio being
about 3:5.

Another similar flag, used in London, UK on 2023-07-01, at the London Pride,
is shown in the photo available here:

Its set of
color shades differs from those of the other flags, the ratio is about 3:5
again, and red is at the top, but the most distinguishing feature is the black
fimbriation of the yellow lozenge, which separates it from the rainbow stripe in
the same color.

Another variant with red at the top and a fimbriated lozenge was used in
Vancouver, BC on 2023-08-06, at the Vancouver Pride. The photo is available here

Here, the fimbriation is
green and wider than on the previously described flag. Green stripe is almost
invisible in the photo - only a tiny portion next to the staff can be seen -
still it reveals that the shade is the same as that of the fimbriation, so they
must be effectively merged into a single shape. Also, the visible area of the
flag suggests that it is not very oblong, probably not more than the national
flag of Brazil, whose ratio was used for this reconstruction.
