The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a public university in Greensboro, North Carolina and is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina system. THE UNIVERSITY FLAG

The University Flag made its debut on campus in the academic procession of Patricia A. Sullivan's installation as Chancellor of the University on October 2, 1995. The flag bears the traditional colors of gold and white, which were first used in the commencement ceremony of 1894, as well as navy, which was added as the third color in 1987. The University Seal, depicting the Likeness of Minerva, appears on both sides of the flag. The UNCG Board of Trustees approved the design as the official flag of the institution on September 7, 1995 ...

There is a large example of the seal at the beginning of the program. It shows a right-facing profile of the helmeted head of Minerva, surrounded by crossed olive (?) fronds. The ring of the seal bears THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA above (approx. from the 8 o'clock position to the 4 o'clock) and GREENSBORO below. 1891 appears to the right of the goddess's neck. According to the university's website the RGB values of the university colors are navy (000, 051, 102), gold (255, 204, 000), white (255, 255, 255). See www.uncg.edu/ure/graphic_standards/color.html. The program also states there are banners for each component of the University- the Graduate School, the School of Arts and Sciences, and the six professional schools (Business and Economics; Education; Health and Human Performance; Human Environmental Sciences; Music; and Nursing). The colors of each are associated with their respective disciplines. Several generations of designs have existed. The current ones were redesigned and first displayed at the December 1999 Commencement.
