The seal shows a depiction of a tomato, as tomato farming was big in the
agricultural sector of the county. The second shows a civil war cannon, which
refers to the Battle of Fort Pillow. The third shows a B-17 Flying Fortress,
which represents the now decommissioned Dyersburg Air Army Base, which was the
largest aircrew training school built during WW-II, and the only B-17 training
base inland east of the Mississippi.

During the 1996 Bicentennial efforts a Lauderdale County flag was made and is on display at the TN Museum. The flag depicts 4 major areas of our county: Halls Air Base, Henning-Alex Haley Home, Ft. Pillow Civil War Site, and an agricultural symbol - cotton boll. The art class from Halls High School created the flag.
