According to The Independent Record, Lewis and Clark County adopted a flag
after a request from Mrs. Lyle Johnsrud, head of an international program which
was presented at a Montana Home Demonstration Council meeting. The request was
directed towards every Montana county, which was to bring a foreign and county
flag. Delegates to the event from the county brought the flag of the UK and a
county flag. This county flag was designed by Mrs. John Casey, and had a map of
the county in white on a blue background. This flag was adopted in June 1960 and
was recognized by the county council's president, however it likely had only
very limited use and lasted for little after the meeting. I would like to note
that it seems no resolutions or ordinances on the county flag were ever formed.
