The Público newspaper of 15 August 2003 featured an article about the draconian anti-tobacco regulations the mayor of New York set in place in the city. It was illustrated by a photo, which shows a Wall Street yuppy smoking by the door of the New York Stock Exchange building, which includes two flags: the American one and the NYSE one.
I've seen this flag numerous times, since for a while it was common practice of Portuguese television to show a shot of
the NYSE building every time the news went on some aspect of the American economy. However, it's been a while since I last saw it, and my memory begins to fuzzy up on me. The flag is light blue with the NYSE logo in the center, in dark
blue and white.
Is or was? while searching for pictures of this logo to help me draw it, I noticed that it's no longer used. It seems that the NYSE changed logos recently and that this flag is now a historical flag. I have no idea of what they fly now, if anything: I do know that the building is now "wrapped" in American flags. Very patriotic.
The old(?) logo is composed of the initials of the institution, N, Y and E in a non-serif typeface similar to Arial Narrow but fragmented in stripes (like the logo of IBM) and S in a serif typeface reminding of Times New Roman.
