Flag and arms of the University of Belgrade - Images by Tomislav Todorović, 13 September 2014
The University of Belgrade adopted on 12 July 2006 new Statutes and Regulations, including one chapter prescribing the new flag and coat of arms of the University (presentation). According to Serbian PBS TV news, the symbols, proposed by the Serbian Heraldic Society "White Eagle", were unanimuously adopted by the Board of the University. They are described as "an elegant union of tradition and modernity".
The arms of the University (image) feature in chief an open book on a red field, bearing the medieval Cyrillic inscription "Iskoni bě slovo" ("In the beginning there was the Word"), initial words of the Gospel of John, inscribed as in the Miroslav's Gospel (presentation), a medieval manuscript which is kept in the National Museum of Serbia in Belgrade and is included (since 2005) into UNESCO's Memory of the World Register. In base is featured the slightly modified coat of arms of the town of Belgrade.
The flag is a simplified banner of arms, which
displays only the fortress from the town's coat of arms.
A photo shows the flag as vertical with three square tails at the end, blue with the arms of the University.

Flag of the University of Arts in Belgrade - Image by Tomislav Todorović, 14 September 2014
The University of Arts in Belgrade (Univerzitet umetnosti u Beogradu; presentation; website) was founded in 1957 as the Academy of Arts (Umetnička akademija) by grouping of four previously independent academies: the Academy of Music(Muzička akademija), the Academy of Fine Arts (Akademija likovnih umetnosti), the Academy of Applied Arts (Akademija primenjenih umetnosti), and the Academy of Theatre Arts (Akademija za pozorišnu umetnost). In 1962, the Academy of Theatre Arts was renamed into the Academy of Theatre, Film, Radio and Television (Akademija za pozorište, film, radio i televiziju). In 1973, the Academy of Arts was transformed into the University of Arts and its constituent academies were transformed into faculties: the Faculty of Music Arts (Fakultet muzičke umetnosti), the Faculty of Fine Arts (Fakultet likovnih umetnosti), the Faculty of Applied Arts (Fakultet primenjenih umetnosti), and the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (Fakultet dramskih umetnosti).
The flag of the University of Arts is dark blue, with the university logo in white.
The logo (image), originally created for the Academy of Arts in 1966, represents the four constituent academies/faculties as the "four leaves of the same branch", as expressed by its creator Miloš Ćirić
(1931-1999), longtime professor at the Academy/Faculty of Applied Arts
and one of first scholars in Socialist-era Serbia who re-introduced
studying of heraldry (Heraldika, knj. 1: Grb: ilustrovani osnovni pojmovi, Belgrade, 1983; 2nd ed. 1988).
While the logo is an official emblem, the status of flag has not been verified yet, however it has been permanently hoisted over the Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade since at least 2010 (that was when I noticed it, but it must have been hoisted earlier).
