It is a typical Portuguese communal flag with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of yellow and red.

Shield Or parted by a bend sinister wavy of blue-silver-blue, on dexter chief a cross patty Gules charged with a Greek cross Argent,
on sinister base a stonecutter´s hammer Gules hafted Sable in bend sinister under a chisel Gules in bend.
Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading
in black upper case serifed letters "PINHEIRO - CASTRO DAIRE".
Meaning:
The cross is that one of the Order of Christ. The tools are alluding to local arts and crafts, especially processing of marble.
The wavy bend sinister is a representation of the Paiva River.
