Meaning:
The blue cross is a representation of the chapel dedicated to St. Lucia and to the Cross of Independence, two local monuments of great cultural and architectural importance.
The broom is representing the local landscape and nature, its beauty and its multifarious flora, especially the abundance of wild broom.
The rye ears are representing the local economy, mainly agriculture and stock breeding, but also the local stone cutting, especially of marble.
