It is a typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field gyronny of eight of yellow and blue. Due to the original draft of Secção de Heráldica da Associação dos Arqueólogos Portugueses (SHAAP) it is described as: quartered into four yellow pieces and four blue pieces.

The Bragança municipal government also makes use of a logotype that somewhat resembles the arms: It shows a very stylised heraldic shield, plain red with a golden stylised castle wall above it, suggesting an "M" in the negative space of the gap between these two elements. The logo author is Rui Carvalho. For more details click here. A previous logo, which was likely replaced by the current one upon the 2013 - showing two local landmarks (the castle and the Roman forum), mountain outlines, and lettering - can be found here.
