- Yiddish name: (Chechnov).
Gmina Cieszanów is an urban-rural gmina (urban-rural commune) in Lubaczów
County, Subcarpathian Voivodship, in south-eastern Poland. Its seat is
the town of Cieszanów, which lies approximately 12 kilometres (7 mi) north
of Lubaczów and 85 km (53 mi) east of the regional capital Rzeszów.
The commune covers an area of 219.35 square kilometres (84.7 sq mi),
and as of 2006 its total population is 7,258 (out of which the population
of Cieszanów amounts to 1,899, and the population of the rural part of
the gmina is 5,359).
The commune contains part of the protected area called Puszcza Solska
Landscape Park.
Arms and flag adopted on December 31, 2002 (resolution # 22/III/2002).
"Arms: on a red shield a silver sword with golden handle and cut-off
tip of the blade.
On both sides, silver buckles (or brackets).
Flag: the middle band is white and of 3/5 of the total width of the
flag and between two narrow bands, 1/5 of the width of the flag each: upper
- light blue, lower - red. Arranged horizontally.
