Gmina Baranów is a rural gmina (commune) in Grodzisk Mazowiecki County,
Masovian Voivodship, in east-central Poland. Its seat is the village of
Baranów.
Area: 75.37 sq.km (29.1 sq.mi); Population: 4,855.
Basically, an agricultural commune; land under cultivation - 92%; forests
- 0%.
Baranów is the most possible location for the new Warsaw Airport -
planned as the biggest hub for Central and Eastern Europe.
Arms and flag adopted on October 27, 2006 (resolution # XL/226/2006).
"Arms: on the red shield a silver ram, walking to the right, with golden
horns and hoofs. Below it a silver 'rogacina' upside down.
In Polish, the 'ram' = 'baran', hence the name of the commune
Flag: red rectangle in the ratio 5:8 with the Arms placed centrally
on it."
