Goce Delčev University (Универзитет Гоце Делчев Штип - УГД; website) was founded on 27 March 2007 by the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. The idea behind the establishment of a university in Štip is more than 30 years old. At the inaugural meting of 28 June 2007 the University Senate of the Goce Delčev University in Štip elected Prof. Dr. Saša Mitrev as the Rector of the University.The flag of the university (photos,

photos) is red with the university symbol on it.
The emblem represents the the school in Novo Selo - Štip, where Goce
Delčev used to teach (today's the university Rector’s Office, photo).
