The current flag of the city of Marrakech is similar
to the city flag in 1367.
Jaume Ollé, 09 Oct 1998 and 18 Apr 1999
The provincial flags of 1968-1976
are of a uniform pattern. Each is square with the arms of the
province surmounted by a red schwenkel bearing a green
pentagram, representing the national flag.
Jens Pattke, 13 Jun 2001
An elaborate native dagger appears on a blue shield. The sheath
is gold with silver decorations, while the hilt is black with a gold
pommel.

The coat of arms and the flag is a white field with a green hemline and
with a red shield head. In the head of the shield a yellow crown with white
Salomon seal. In the white rectangle a red minaret. The green hemline is
reserved with seven white forts.

«A squarish red flag with a swallowtail at the top only.
In the center is a circle of blue/white checkerboard.»
The book says about it that «banners-of-arms, derived from
attributed [i.e. imaginary] coats-of-arms, were
assigned [in medieval nautical charts] to exotic countries
whose flags were unknown, for instance Morocco».
John Niggley, 25 Jan 1996, and
Santiago Dotor, 22 Mar 2000,
both quoting [neu39a] (pages 62-63)
That is the flag of the city of Marrakech in 1367; the
current flag is similar.
