Cumbre de América Latina y del Caribe (Spanish)
The CALC is a series of summits (the first one being held in Rio do Janeiro,
Brasil in 1999) to foster Latin American integration and also to have a FTA
(Free Trade Area) with the EU in 2010 (speceific goal
of the IV summit held in Vienna, Austria in 2006), which has not been achieved
yet. However a Foundation was set up, the EU-LAC Foundation (European
Union-Latin America and the Caribbean Foundation) (official website:
http://eulacfoundation.org/ ) as a tool to promote bi-regional association.
Since the establishment of the CELAC, the summits known as EU-LAC will now be
called EU-CELAC Summit.
