The first modern symbols of Podturen were adopted in 18 December 2004 by the document Zakljucak o odabiru likovnog rješenja zastave i grba Općine Podturen, published in the Municipality review Službene stranice Općine Podturen (text)
The symbols were adopted following a public contest. The winner of the contest is Daniel Hampamer.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.
The coat of arms is "vert a mill wheel or and in the base wavy azure two barrulets wavy argent".
The design was not approved by the Ministry since a mill wheel is already present on "600 coats of arms of the local selfgoverment units".
