Presentation of Rungis international market

The Rungis International Market (French: Marché International de Rungis) is the main market of Paris (and of France), mainly for food and horticultural products, located in the communes of Rungis and Chevilly-Larue, in the southern suburbs of Paris and in the Val-de-Marne department. It is the second largest wholesale food market in the world.
Before the mid-20th century, the central market of Paris was located in the central district of Les Halles. That became too small and, in 1969, the market was transferred to Rungis: the place was selected because of its easy access by rail and highway and its proximity to Orly International Airport.

The market covers 232 hectares, with 13,000 people working there every day. 1,698,000 tonnes of products are brought in annually, with a revenue of 12 billions €. It has the largest turnover of wholesale markets in the world. The market is the property of the French State and administered by the Semmaris (Société d'Economie Mixte d'Aménagement et de gestion du marché d'intérêt national de Rungis).

A former flag of the entity could be observed in 2016 in La Rochelle during the solo multi-stage sailing race "La Solitaire du Figaro": it was a white with the logo in use before 2019 (photo).

No flag spotted yet with the current logo.
