Symbols of Santibáñez de Valcorba

The flag and arms of Santibáñez de Valcorba are described in an Agreement adopted on 18 June 2018 by the Municipal Council, signed on 20 August 2018 by the Mayor and published on 27 August 2018 in the official gazette of the Province of Valladolid, No. 164, pp. 11-12 (text). Further registration by the Government of Castilla y León does not appear to have been completed.
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Panel in proportions 2:3, rectangular, crimson red as a symbol of the Kingdom of Castile to which Santibáñez de Valcorba belonged for centuries. The municipal coat of arms, in full colors, in the center, in the traditional use and shape in the Councils of Cuéllar (Segovia), Peñafiel (Valladolid) or the proper town of Valladolid.
Coat of arms: In Spanish shape. Argent an eagle sable haloed or as the symbol of St. John the Evangelist holding a scroll argent inscribed "Sanctus Ioannes" in letters sable (meaning "Santibáñez" [St. John] over waves azure and argent. A bordure composed of 16 pieces in turn Gules a castle or and Argent a lion purpure crowned or. The shield surmounted by a Ducal coronet.

Justification of the charges.
The flag, all crimson red, symbolizes the Kingdom of Castile, to which Santibáñez de Valcorba belonged for centuries.
The coat of arms is placed in the center, in the traditional use and shape in the Councils of Cuéllar (Segovia), Peñafiel (Valladolid) and the proper town of Valladolid, among other places in the Kingdom of Castile.
As the main charge of the coat of arms, in the center, the eagle has been the tetramorph attribute of St. John since the 6th century, recalling the municipality's etymology (Sanctus Iohannes - Santiuanes - Santibáñez) and patron saint, to which the municipality's parish church is dedicated.
St. John's eagle is placed on the stream of brook Valcorba, represented by the waves azure and argent in base; the settlement is named for this brook.
The bordure of Castile and León, surrounding the local arms, represents the emblems used in the place (church artesonado [jointed wooden ceiling], seals of the municipality in the 19th century and of Queen Urraca I, the first known lord of Santibáñez de Valcorba).

The municipality has been using since 2009 a coat of arms designed by former Mayor Luis Berzosa Calvo (image). Not compliant with the rules of heraldry, the coat of arms is quartered, featuring the St. John the Evangelist's church, a pine, a crab and one of the bridges spanning over brook Valcorba.
Manuel Agustín Fernández, the present-day's Mayor, commissioned the Municipal Councillor Jorge Mozo to design a new coat of arms.
