Shield Argent hammer and mallet Sable; mantled, at dexter Vert a bend wavy Argent, at sinister Or a lion rampant Sable armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The upper dexter part displays the arms of the former Sächsische Schweiz County and is symbolising the landscape alongside the Elbe River. The tinctures are those of Sachsen. The lion is that one of the Margraves of Meißen, local rulers for centuries. He is also symbolising the common history of the county and its predecessors. Hammer and mallet, the symbols of mining, are referring to the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) and the numerous mining cities in the region. Lion and tools also had been part of the arms of the former Weißeritz County.

The county council adopted new arms on 29 September 2008, which were officially approved on in November 2008.
