Description of coat of arms:
In the red shield are four silver (= white) wheels ordered 2:2. The silver (= white) chief is superimposed by two crossed, green leaves of alder with a male inflorescence of the same colour each.
Meaning:
Alders are the predominant kind of trees. The number of wheels is symbolizing the union of Barsbüttel, Willinghusen, Stemwarde and Stellau, which had been realized in 1973. The wheels are also symbolizing the mobility of the inhabitants. Many of them are working in nearby Hamburg.
