Shield Argent, a dog salient Sable tongued Gules with necklace Or, base parted by a beam like lattice Gules.
Meaning:
The dog nowadays is red, but sources don´t say, when his tincture had been changed. The dog (German: Hund) on flag still is black. He is the canting heraldic animal of the Hundt family, who ruled the local district (Bavarian: Hofmark) from the middle of the 17th century until the middle of the 18th century. The lattice on base is taken from the personal arms of Nikolaus Eppenreuther, who had Abbot of Waldsassen between 1419 and 1433. The tinctures are those of the abbey.
