During the 1972 municipal reform, most of Neuburg upon Donau County (in Schwaben district) including the city of Neuburg upon Donau was merged with Schrobenhausen county (in Oberbayern district). The new county was called Neuburg-Schrobenhausen and is part of Oberbayern. The capital of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen County is Neuburg/Donau.

Meaning:
The arms combine the symbols of the old arms of Neuburg, with the bear's head taken from the arms of the city (not the county) of Schrobenhausen.

Shield Sable a lion rampant issuant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules, chief Argent two bars wavy Azure.
Meaning:
The arms show in the chief the two main rivers in the district, the Donau [Danube] and the Lech, represented by blue bars wavy. The lower part shows the Palatine lion. From the 13th century onwards the Palatine Counts acquired more and more areas in the county, which finally resulted in the formation of the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg.

Meaning:
The arms combine the lozenges of the arms of Bayern with symbols for the agriculture and the little Paar river, that runs through the county, symbolised by the pallet wavy. The county was among the oldest possessions of the Wittelsbach kin, Dukes and Kings of Bayern.
