The Daleminze Shire was populated by Slavic tribes. Nossen was located on the edge of the shire and was first mentioned in 1162, affiliated with the Cistercian Altzella Monastery. In 1185 it had been the seat of the Knights of Nussin. The local castle and the little lordship were sold to the Bishopric of Meißen in 1315, but was regained by the monastery in 1413. A village developed since 1254. It was called a town in 1376. The arms are punning. The pattern appeared on local seals and arms since 1680.

Meaning:
Ketzerbachtal was established on 1 January 1994 by a merger of the municipalities of Raußlitz, Rüsseina and Ziegenhain. On 1 March 1994 Rhäsa was added. The new municipality had 24 settlement cores. Together with the municipality of Leuben-Schleinitz it formed an administrative community, which was dissolved on 14 November 2013. Both municipalities were incorporated into Nossen on 1 January 2014. The pale wavy is a represenation of the name giving Ketzerbach, a creek. The bridge is a local building and the leaves are symbolising the location in the woods.
