Öhringen Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per bend into red over silver (= white). A bendy key in counterchanged colours with the beard pointing downwards is the only charge.
Meaning:
The key is an attribute of St.Peter, who is the patron saint of monastery, established by Adelheid, princess of the Franconian kings of Germany before 1037. Later on the symbol was used by the nearby settlement, which was denoted as acity first in 1253. Afterwards St. Peter appeared on the seals and in the city arms. He was later replaced by his attribute. Red and white are the colours of Hohenlohe.
Source: Stadler 1971, p.83

The current arms are in use since 1954.
