Yellow-red with the arms. Sources: Falko Schmidt, arms from H. John and M. Heine 1989 [read below].
Stefan Schwoon, 25 March 2001
Adopted 15 March 1989, according to Dirk Schönberger's Administrative Divisions of the World website. From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:
The arms were granted on 2 August 1974. The arms are a combination of the arms of Austria (white fess) and Baden (red bend), as the largest part of the district was historically either part of Austria or Baden. The eagle is taken from the arms of the Princes of Fürstenberg, who also had several estates in the district, and is also part of the arms of the city of Breisach. The county's seat is Freiburg city.Literature: H.
