Werra-Meißner is a county in the North of Hesse. The county was established in 1974 by a merger the two counties of Eschwege and Witzenhausen, which had both existed with only slight modifications since 1821.

Shield Azure a castle Argent with one tower and roofs Gules, issuant from base a triplemount Vert charged with a bar wavy Argent, dexter flanch Argent charged with an ash twig Gules with nine leaves.
Meaning:
The ash (German: Esche) twig is taken from the arms of former Eschwege County as a canting element. The castle is Ludwigstein Castle and is taken from the arms of former Witzenhausen County. The triplemount is representing the Meißner ridges and the bar wavy the Werra River.
