Windsbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter quartered of Argent and Sable, at sinister Gules a bend wavy Argent.
Meaning:
Old local seals with prints since 1402 only displayed the quartered shield of the Zollern kin crested by a hound. A seal from 1610 displayed two shields, crested together by the hound with additional scarves. The corresponding arms were confirmed by Margrave Joachim Ernst as follows: at dexter quartered, at sinister Gules a bend sinister wavy Vert, the latter symbolising the city's name. In 1718 the bend sinister was charged with a "W" in a white (= silver) field. This pattern also appeard in a medal of the local mayor in 1758. Since 1819 the current pattern prevailed.

The old arms were granted on 10 May 1614 by Margrave Joachim Ernst of Brandenburg-Ansbach. The current pattern was adopted in 1819.
