Homepage: where we learn that "The village Věžnice came into being uniting the three original villages - Horní Věžnice (Upper Věžnice), Dolní Věžnice (Lower Věžnice) and Prostřední Věžnice (Middle Věžnice). Horní and Dolní Věžnice were founded as a watchtower on the main merchant road from Brno to Prague about the first half of the 13th century. The first written mention about the rise of Horní Věžnice dates back to 1242, while the establishment of Prostřední Věžnice is first mentioned in the contract of purchase, which belonged to Lord Hertvík Žejdlic of Šenfeld and comes from the 16th century. Both villages were always under the charge of Czech custodians in the past. The Bavarian colonists in the Early Middle Ages already settled down Dolní Věžnice. All three villages were a part of Polná's estate. The union of the villages under the same name Věžnice was realized on the Council's request in 1925.
