Two unidentified Chinese flags are published by L. Philippe in Franciae Vexilla #21/67, March 2000. The original source is a plate from the 'New York Sun', dated 28 February 1912.
The first flag, captioned 'Generalissimo', is a 3:4 red flag with a chequy of 5x5 blue and white pieces. The canton covers the half of the flag.
The second flag, captioned "Lieutenant-General', differs from the first
one by the inversion of the colours in the canton.
