So that the city of Lake Stevens could participate in the Parade of Flags at the annual conference of the Association of Washington Cities in June 2024, city staff began developing a flag. The printing company PrintWest of Woodinville WA was hired to help refine flag design concepts based on the district icon graphics of the Lake Stevens Beautification Plan of 2018 which were meant to be inclusive for all areas of the city. The icons appearing on the flag are a salmon for the west district of the city, Mount Pilchuck for the east, an eagle for the south, and the Mill Water Tower for Old Town. Above the icons is the city motto, “One Community Around the Lake,” which refers to the quality of life, the highly ranked school district, the unity across the city, and the government’s commitment to serving the city and its residents. Below are waves from the current city logo representing the lake itself. The flag was adopted on May 21, 2024, and took part in the Parade of Flags.
