Municipal flags in Lawrence County:

The flag is apparently the seal on white as shown on lawrencecountyohio.org/33.htm. The three symbols found on the Lawrence County Flag/Seal, designed by the Lawrence County Genealogical Society, were selected because of the significance of the originals in the developing history of the county of Lawrence.
Dov Gutterman, 29 May 2002
The flag seems to be a simple white cloth with the county's seal in it, probably centered. The seal contains the words "LAWRENCE COUNTY / STATE of OHIO" in the outer ring and four elements in the central area: a branch with a couple
of red fruits, probably apples, hanging from it; a drawing that looks like a small farmhouse with a fence and a bit of field surrounding it; a Mississippi basin riverboat, and a small scroll containing something I guessed to be the county's incorporation date: 1816.

The Lawrence County Seal is featured on the county flag. The seal was designed by the Lawrence County Genealogical Society, and the symbols were drawn by local artist Lee F. (Danny) Daniel, Jr. The seal was adopted by the County
Commissioners on November 6, 1985.
Three symbols appear on the white flag. The Charcoal Iron Furnace reminds us of the rich mineral deposits in the area and of the historical production of high quality iron. The Rome Beauty Apples represent the ideal growing conditions for fruit trees and also the famous breed of apple that was developed locally by the Gillette family in 1816. The River Boat symbolizes transportation and the large number of Lawrence County men who worked on the Ohio River in the 1800's.
Lawrence County was established in 1815, organized in 1817, and named after Captain James Lawrence in the War of 1812.

Lawrence County gets new seal

The new seal, designed in 2018 by Brad Bear, of Bear Media Services, has a lot of symbolism packed into it. In the center of the seal is the Lawrence County Courthouse since it is the seat of the county government. It was intentionally left white to symbolize that government is ever changing and is never finished with the people’s work. The hills represent the county’s natural beauty and the blue represents the Ohio River.
There are 14 rays of the sun representing all 14 townships, Aid, Decatur, Hamilton, Elizabeth, Fayette, Lawrence, Mason, Perry, Rome, Symmes, Union, Upper, Windsor, Washington. “I like that it incorporated all the townships in the county,” said commissioner Dr. Colton Copley. “And that it represents all aspects of the county by bringing the townships in.” Holliday said that the commissioners have been using it for a while and they realized it was time to formally adopt it. She added that they are not forcing county offices to use the new seal and incur the expense of replacing letterheads and other things that require an official county seal. “That is up to the individual officeholders as to which one they use,” Holliday said. “The new one is just the one we choose to use.” The old seal is not going to be tossed in the dustbin of history. To commemorate the original seal, the commissioners will memorialize it by placing it on the floor mat at the Fourth Street entrance. The original plaque with the seal will be placed in the newly-renovated commissioners’ chambers on the fourth floor of the courthouse. The county’s former seal was designed by the Lawrence County Genealogical Society. It has three symbols related to Lawrence County, including a charcoal iron furnace, which represents the 17 iron furnaces that were instrumental to manufacturing in World War I and World War II; a Rome beauty apple which was first planted in the county in 1816 and its popularity grew far beyond Lawrence County; and a river boat which represents the trade on the Ohio River.
