North Yarmouth, Maine, was presented with a Town Flag during its Tricentennial on 13 September, 1980 according to the 16 September 1980 edition of the "Portland Press Herald" (page 9). The account has a photo showing Robert Hazleton of the Militia presenting the new town flag and a very brief description: "The new town flag -- gold with a white circular center carrying the design of the town seal, a tree with outspread branches under which is the message 'The town where others began' -- was presented to the town by the Tricentennial Committee."
The photo, however, shows the flag, partly folded, as having the exact design of the Town Seal sized such that the top and bottom of the seal come close to the top and bottom edges of the flag. There is no evidence of the motto, which did figure in the commemorative items such as tee shirts and the like sold that day, was actually on the flag despite what the newspaper said.
The colors of this image are somewhat conjectural based on the different hues in the black and white photo in the paper.
