The flag of Giresun is white (photo), or green (photo,

The emblem features two highly stylized hazelnuts.
Hazelnut is one of the most important nut crops in the world and has its
origins in the center of Anatolia. Wild species are found in Anatolia
which have provided the source for today's cultivated varieties.
Turkey is the first world hazelnut producer and exporter. In addition,
it covers approximately 70% and 82% of the world`s production and export
respectively. While Turkey's average in shell production is 350-400 000
t, this value has reached up to 500 000 t in recent years.

"Giresun Quality" hazelnuts are those round-shaped hazelnuts, which grow
in Giresun and in certain districts of Trabzon. "Giresun Quality"
hazelnuts are the world's highest-quality hazelnuts.
The Hazelnut Sales Cooperatives Union (Fiskobirlik; website) was established in
July 1938 by five cooperatives, while the Giresun Hazelnut Exporters
Union was established in November 1940. Fiskobirlik also uses an emblem
made of three green hazelnuts.

Duroğlu

The municipality of Duroğlu (2,919 inhabitants in 2013) is located on river Aksu, 10 km south of Giresun.
The flag of Duroğlu (photo) is white with the municipality's emblem. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".
The emblem of the municipality features a stone arched bridge.
Three bridges of that kind are currently under restoration (Çavuşlu Haber, 6 November 2010)

Giresun University (website) was established in 2006 by Law No. 5,467. The university originates in the Teacher's Training School
for Girls, established in 1962 and transformed in 1992 in the Faculty of
Education of the Black Sea Technical University.
The university is composed of 13 Faculties, 6 Schools and 12 Vocational
Schools.
The flag of the university (photo) is white with the university's emblem.

GTB (website) was established on 30 May 1926 as the Hazelnut Stock Exchange. GTB was inaugurated on 1 August 1926.

Giresunspor (Giresunspor Kulübü), originally established in 1925, was refounded in 1967 as the merger of Yeşiltepespor, Akıngençlikspor, and Beşiktaşspor. The club played in the top league between 1971 and 1977.
The flag of Giresunspor (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo) is white with the club's emblem, counter-coloured (green background and white charges), and the club's name written in green capital letters beneath the emblem.
