Prebold has the status of municipality since 1998.

Municipal flag of Prebold

The flag and arms of Prebold are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Občine Prebold, adopted on 30 September 1999 and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 88/1999.

The flag is rectangular, in proportions 2:5, horizontally divided yellow over green with the coat of arms in the middle.

The official colour specifications are:
- Yellow: Pantone Yellow c / HKS 3
- Green: Pantone 348c / HKS 54
- Blue: Pantone Yellow 300 / HKS 44

The coat of arms can be blazoned as "Or bordered sable, on a mount vert a castle argent windowed and roofed sable towered on corners, in base a bar azure".
The coat of arms pictures the late Renaissance castle of Prebold, with watch towers on corners, on a green hill over the Bolska river. This representation of the castle, although simplified, is indeed fairly accurate.
The height of the blue stripe is 1/10 of the total height, just as is the upper green part of the mount; the height of the field below the blue stripe is 1/3 of the total height, while the width of the castle (with towers) is 2/3 of the total width.
