Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a man passant, dressed and masked of Gules, Vert and Or with baton Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE PODENCE E SANTA COMBINHA"".
Meaning:
The base wavy is a representation of the Azibo water reservoir. The Shrovetide mask of the man is described below.

Presentation of Podence e Santa Combinha

Podence e Santa Combinha is one of the six communes of Macedo de Cavaleiros Municipality created by a merger during the 2013 changes. It had 258 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 19,46 km².

Coat of Arms

The shield is Argent, parted by a pall Azure, charged with 12 waves Argent, in fork extended to a heraldic fountain, flanked by two twigs of chestnut Vert fructed Or, the nuts slit Gules, in chief a local Shrovetide mask Or garnished Gules and Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers and short white scroll, in Bénard-Guedes style, reading in black upper case letters "PODENCE"
Meaning:
The conjoined pall and heraldic fountain stand for the Azibo Reservoir, where this commune is located. The Shrovetide mask (Port.: careto) stands for the local tradition of merrymaking, stemming from pre-Christian rites of coming-of-age — see examples of this mask type here, here and here. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "SANTA COMBINHA".
