Shield Sable two chestnut trees eradicated Argent with their burrs Vert cracked Or, on chief a crown Or bejewelled proper, on a base wavy Argent two barrulets wavy Azure. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILA NOVA DE SOUTO D´EL-REI"
Meaning:
This toponym means literally New Town of-the Chestnut-Grove of-the-King and these arms are therefore partly canting. The base wavy is a representation of the local Balsemão River.
